Biopsy

What is a biopsy ?

Biopsy is a technique that allows the sampling of tissue fragments from an organ. The biopsy can be performed during a surgical procedure, but it can also be carried out through the skin or in the mucosa directly. In this case, the doctor uses a needle that he/she guides into the body to the site of the anomaly, in some cases with the help of an imaging device (X-ray, ultrasound, etc.).

What is the purpose of a biopsy ?

The fragment of tissue taken during the biopsy will be analyzed microscopically in order to obtain precise information on the structure of the tissue, and thus to establish a precise diagnosis.

Duration

The duration of the procedure varies according to the type of biopsy performed.
